Visiting GEP

Dr. L. Corlatti is visiting the GEP for few weeks. Luca will work with G. Tavecchia and A. Sanz-Aguilar on estimating mortality of deers at the Stelvio National Park using radio-tracking data. 

G.E.P. at IZW in Berlin

Ana Sanz-Aguilar has been invited to present her work on Estimating Recruitment and Survival in partially-monitored population at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin. 

G.E.P. at the MUSE

A. Sanz-Aguilar, from the GEP, visited the Museo delle Scienze di Trento (Italy) with a Short Term Scientific Mission funded by EU COST Action ES1304, the ParrotNet European network of scientists, practitioners and policy-makers dedicated to research on invasive parrots, their impacts and the challenges they present. During 1 month at the MUSE, Ana will collaborate with Dr. Simone Tenan evaluating the population dynamics of the rose-ringed parakeet across Europe.

G.E.P. at the Percy FitzPatrick Institute & SEEC

Ana Payo-Payo, from the GEP, has visited the Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology  and the Centre for Statistics in Ecology, the Environment and Conservation (SEEC) at Cape Town (South Africa) with a fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Education. During the 2-month visit at the FitzPatrick and SEEC Ana explored SouthAfrican wildlife and worked with Prof. P. Ryan and Prof. R. Altwegg on the application of multievent and state-space models on seabird populations.

Stage at the G.E.P.

Julia Bos joined the GEP for her Erasmus+  stage.  She will be investigating the within-colony differences in egg volume, clutch size, movements and spatial structure of the Yellow Legged Gull at Dragonera Island. Welcome Julia.

Erasmus+ at the GEP

Serena Manserra is joining the GEP for four months as part of her training in the Erasmus+ program of the University of Pavia (Italy). Serena will investigate the factors influencing the breeding success of Scopoli's shearwaters. Welcome Serena !

GEP at Boulder University

Meritxell Genovart and Daniel Oro are visiting the University of Boulder (Colorado, USA) for three months.Their collaboration with Prof D. Doak will certainly bring exciting results in the field of population dynamics. We will keep you posted.

Master Project at the GEP

Nikola Matovic joined the GEP for 6 months to carry out his MSc project for the "European MSc in Marine Environment and Resources" . He will develop his research titled "Modelling the relationship between Storm petrel survival and environmental factors" under the supervision of Dr. A. Sanz-Aguilar. Welcome Nikola!
 

New at the Population Ecology Group (GEP)

Giulia Bastianelli, student at the Unidad Mixta de Investigación en Biodiversidad (UO/CSIC/PA), joined the GEP for three months. Giulia is working on the influence of the altitudinal gradient on the demography of passerines.
